Tesco Kingsbury

A Comprehensive Solution for Fire Safety and Facade Renewal

Quantity Surveyor Andrew Machin

Project Manager Ross Gardiner

Our client, a leading retail developer, sought a complete overhaul of their Tesco-owned property in Kingsbury, London. The project required urgent remediation of existing cladding, compartmentation, and firestopping systems to ensure compliance with stringent safety regulations.

GPF Lewis delivered a comprehensive solution that involved the complete replacement of the building's façade. This included the removal of all combustible materials, installation of a new subframe and façade build-up, and the specification of high-performance rainscreen cladding. To enhance safety and comfort, we also replaced balconies and terraces throughout the building.

Working on an occupied building presented significant logistical challenges. We successfully navigated these by maintaining open communication with the client and residents, and by adapting our work schedule as needed. Unexpected structural issues were uncovered during the project, requiring additional remediation work to ensure the building's integrity.

By carefully planning our approach and prioritizing safety, we were able to deliver a successful project that exceeded our client's expectations. Our expertise in façade replacement, fire safety, and complex project management enabled us to overcome challenges and deliver a high-quality solution.
