Canterbury University
At GPF Lewis, we specialise in delivering complex fire safety solutions that prioritise both building integrity and occupant well-being. Our recent project at Petros Court, a five-block student accommodation complex, exemplifies our commitment to excellence.
Engaged from the initial stages, we conducted thorough intrusive surveys to accurately assess the existing fire safety conditions. Collaborating closely with the fire engineer, architect, and other stakeholders, we developed a comprehensive scope of works tailored to address the specific needs of the project.
Our transparent open-book costing approach provided a clear understanding of project costs, ensuring a de-risked and market-value solution. We successfully navigated the regulatory landscape, achieving compliance with all relevant fire safety standards and codes.
Key challenges included working around occupied student accommodation and coordinating with multiple stakeholders. Our meticulous planning and execution minimised disruptions to student life while ensuring a high-quality installation. We implemented innovative solutions, such as temporary scaffolding shrouds, to mitigate the impact of inclement weather and maintain project timelines.
The project's success is evident in the positive feedback from the client, who commended our thorough processes and minimal student complaints. Our commitment to quality and compliance was recognised by industry experts, with AWW Architects and Kent Fire and Rescue citing the project as an exemplary model for fire safety upgrades.
