A Cutting-Edge Healthcare Facility: London's First Dual-Pressure Operating Theatre

GPF Lewis was instrumental in delivering a state-of-the-art healthcare facility in London. Phase 1 of this ambitious project involved the complete fit-out of a new operating theatre, nurses' station, stepdown rooms, and back-of-house offices. Additionally, we constructed a new patient pod to level 1, enhancing the overall capacity and functionality of the facility.

Our team's expertise was showcased in the creation of London's first operating theatre capable of functioning under both positive and negative pressure modes. This innovative design ensures a safe and controlled environment for complex surgical procedures.

To accommodate the needs of patients, we remodeled the existing reception area into a modern and comfortable stepdown area. This space includes three stepdown rooms for patients to rest and recover after minor procedures, as well as two pod rooms for those preparing for or recovering from surgery. Two new offices, a nurse base, and a staff restroom were also constructed to support the facility's operations.

Beyond the design and build work, we refurbished an existing pod room, incorporating a new fully integrated bedhead that provides mechanical, electrical, and medical gas services. This project was executed during non-working hours to minimize disruption to the facility's daily operations.
