12 Weeks

£1 million mixed refurb and design & build project

BTP Finsbury...

British Transport Police (BTP) are the national police force for Britain's rail network with responsibility of ensuring the safety and security of over six million passengers and railway staff throughout England, Scotland and Wales.  BTP had a requirement to relocate a critical operations team to new offices which included a complete refurbishment of the building at the new location. GPF Lewis have had a long standing & successful relationship with BTP, TFL and AMEY and we were selected to undertake a challenging 12-week programme to carry out internal and external refurbishment of a detached 3 story office block and out-building.

The office works included internal demolition of all 3 floors, installation of partitions, suspended ceilings, complete redecoration, new floor coverings as well as new mechanical & electrical services throughout.  The Electrical package covered complete new mains LV distribution systems, internal and external emergency lighting, mechanical services wiring, fire protection, telephone wiring, intruder and access control, CCTV, integrated reception system and lightening protection. Mechanical services included complete new drainage, hot & cold water supplies, heating, ventilation and air conditioning.  The completed building included new kitchens, male and female toilets & shower rooms, various meeting / briefing rooms and open office space.

The external building was undertaken as a separate design & build project - new Kingspan TEK Building System installed with insulated floor deck, new floor finishes, integral rafters to support roof structure to cantilevered walkway and a Nilvent breathable membrane.  The outbuilding was completed in just 4 weeks.

The works were completed on time in line with the original programme and BTP moved in to the new offices successfully.

Letter of Commendation from London Underground

"LU will like to go on record to acknowledge the impressive performance of GPF Lewis in delivering the recent Finsbury Park BTP Station refurbishment.... Their contribution not only ensured the project achieved completion within very tight timescales, but they also demonstrated drive, initiative and adaptability in managing unexpected challenges; such as frequently changing scopes, dealing with Network Rail for approval (ie to install chillers), responding to the structural problems discovered with the proposed siting of the outbuilding, managing interface with public works contractor to enable site access/egress, etc. In addition to achieving the required completion, the works were delivered to a very high standard with no incidents or disruption to surrounding neighbours. LU, and indeed BTP as the end user, appreciate the effort; and want this feedback passed on."
