In September 2012, our construction team handed over an £8m part conversion of an 18th century, Grade II listed public house to a 7 floor, 5 bedroom luxury house. The property is located in the heart of Mayfair near Berkeley Square, Hyde Park and Green Park making it part of the Mayfair Conservation Area.
The project involved a sophisticated three level basement excavation and the retention of the listed façade as well as boasting a swimming pool, steam room, gym, cinema and two roof terraces including a 'green roof'. Some of the new build section of the project takes inspiration from a nearby building covered in Virginia Creeper, and the roof terrace is clad in a metallic shingle taking the form of leaves on a vine.
2 years later, GPF Lewis was involved in several Construction Industry competitions and this project won the Schueco Excellence and the Supreme Surface Design awards, proud moments in our history!
